National Youth Convention Curtains raised
The National Youth Convention began with a grander note. NYC Cross was received by the ICYM Diocesan Team and was handed over to Regional and National Council team.

National Flag, Papal Flag and ICYM flag were hoisted, which was followed by the National Convention Inaugural Holy Eucharist presided over by Arch Bishop Most Rev Bernard Moras.

The inauguration of the NYC was held after the inaugural mass. Most Rev Bernard Moras presided over the function. In his presidential address urged the youth to wake up, to be creative, and to serve for a purpose. He also gave a call to the youth to part take in the spiritual activities as they take part in the secular activities.

Grace Pinto, Managing Director Ryan International Group of Institutions in her keynote address advised the youth not to say parents are boring, instead be a blessing to them. “Start dreaming, think big, achieve big, think positive. We need vision, passion and compassion which leads to uplift the downtrodden”. She credited her success to Jesus and gave a call to all the youth to read Bible and get inspired by it.

“There is a better tomorrow for each and every one of us, so start living from today. Take the theme ‘Touched By Jesus’ in your blood, heart and thinking”. We expect the change, but she advised to be the change.

Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras Archbishop Diocese of Bangalore presided over, Most Rev. Henry D'Souza Chairman CBCI Youth Council, Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev Lawerence Mukkuzhy Bishop of Belthangady, Most Rev Jerald Issac Lobo Bishop of Udupi , Most Rev Alwyn Baretto Diocese of Sindhurg and Chairman Youth Commission Western Region, Most Rev Robert Miranda Bishop of Gulberga, Msgr Denis Prabhu, Mr John Philip Ambassador of UK, Mr John Ray DOCAT, Mr Roy Castelino, Rev Fr Joseph Lobo Director SJEC and others were present.

Mr Sijo Ambat National President welcomed the gathering.

The National Youth convention held once in three years. More than 2500 youth from all over India are participating in the convention. There will be different sessions on the Environment, National Integration, Promoting Leadership. The Concluding programme will be held on Sunday 22nd January with a Peace rally from Rosario cathedral to St Aloysius college grounds were the concluding programme with be held.
