Lenten Reconnect Initiative - 2025
KRCBC Youth Commission Reconnect – Listen, Live and Lend
The Reconnect program, organised by the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission, planned alternating online sessions: spiritual sessions one week, online way of the cross another week. This program aimed to unite youth in reflecting on the passion and suffering of the Lord, strengthening their faith journey through humility and service. The different teams, including the REXCO, the youth of the diocese of Chikkamagaluru under the leadership of Fr. George Fernandez, and the youth of the diocese of Bellary, under the leadership of Fr. Xavier Ravi, led the way of the Cross, during the three weeks, exploring the key issues they encounter, and linking them to Christ’s passion, facilitating a shared experience of prayer and reflection, and finding renewal in the Lord’s sacrifice.
The youth also organised their first spiritual session with Fr. Maria Xavier, the DYD of Mysore, starting the session on the topic “Sin and its effects, repentance and forgiveness.” Fr. Vinay Kumar, assistant DYD of Chikkamagaluru, led the second reconnect spiritual session on “Lent a time of Grace,” emphasising the importance of the 40-day Lenten period and the means of securing grace through prayer, fasting and penance. The last spiritual session, “Calvary’s path, No shortcuts,” was conducted by Naveen Lob, a Jesus Youth alumnus. These spiritual interactive sessions inspired the youth to embrace daily suffering and provided guidance on navigating the Lenten season.
The Karnataka regional youth’s Lenten initiative demonstrated their commitment to spiritual growth and service, inspiring their peers to strive for self-improvement and support to one another. “Well done! Commendable work indeed.”
