Pre-RYC Meeting at Bishop’s House, Bellary
16th August, 2025 : The Karnataka Regional Youth Commission (KRYC) convened at Bishop’s House, Bellary, for the much-anticipated Pre-Regional Youth Convention meeting, setting the stage for the grand Regional Youth Convention to be held in Karwar from October 2 to 5, 2025. The gathering of 35 members was graced by KRYC Chairman Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Henry D’Souza, who reminded the youth that what gives life or death are the choices we make.
The day opened with prayer, scripture, and an inspiring reflection by Fr. Paul Moras, who called on the youth to rise as true representatives of the region. Voices of encouragement followed from the Dean of Bellary, Fr. Leo Michael, emphasising the importance of teamwork, and Monsignor Rev. Fr. O. Vincent, urging the youth to stay open to the wisdom of the elders.
Guided by the three key leaders – the chairman Bishop, the RYD Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, and the ICYM president and KRYC coordinator Ms. Vileena Gonsalves – the meeting progressed, with them guiding it to the very end. Momentum picked up with key updates: Ms. Vileena Gonsalves presented the roadmap for the 13th YUVAJANOTHSAVA 2025, while Fr. Silvan, diocesan Youth Director of Karwar, unveiled detailed plans of the host diocese, highlighting systematic, economical, and creative preparations already underway. Each committee pitched in with reports, ideas, and fresh perspectives, making the session vibrant and collaborative.
The other individuals who played important roles in the meeting’s discussions were Rev. Fr. Stevan Fernandes, the DYD of Udupi, Rev. Fr. Amar, the Joint Secretary of Youth Commission, Archdiocese of Bengaluru, Sr. Molly illickal, the RYLA, Sr. Angeline UFS, the Youth Coordinator, Diocese of Mysore, and Sr. Shanthy Somascan, the Youth Animator, Diocese of Mysore.
At the end of the day, the meeting served as a shared ownership and a strong checkpoint before the convention. The thoughtful care and hospitality created a homely atmosphere and ensured that everyone could focus wholeheartedly on the meeting at Bellary. Thank you, Fr.
