Karnataka Regional YCS/YSM Council Charts the Way Forward for Student Ministry

July 15, 2026 : The Karnataka Regional YCS/YSM Council Meeting was held on 11th July 2026 at the Canara Organization for Development and Peace (CODP), Mangaluru, bringing together student leaders and youth animators from five dioceses across Karnataka to review the region's YCS/YSM ministry and chart the way forward for future initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Most Rev. Dr. Henry D'Souza, Chairman of the Karnataka Regional Youth Commission (KRYC) and Bishop of Ballari; Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Regional Youth Director; Sr. Lenita Lobo, A.C., Regional Youth Lady Animator; the Diocesan Youth Directors (DYDs) and Diocesan Youth Lady Animators (DYLAs); the Regional YCS/YSM Executive Team; and council members representing five dioceses.

The day commenced with prayer, followed by the presentation of diocesan activity reports. A Cell Meeting provided an opportunity for delegates to share their grassroots experiences, discuss challenges, and evaluate the organization of the YCS/YSM Regional Conclave.

The main council session was presided over by Mr. Alister Clinton Fernandes, Regional President, and Mr. Christopher, Regional General Secretary, under the guidance of Most Rev. Dr. Henry D'Souza and Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza. The discussions focused on reviewing the region's activities and finalizing plans for the upcoming Regional Conclave.

Key decisions included the approval of the Conclave theme, the finalization of the dates and venue, participant allocation from each diocese, the registration fee, and the assignment of responsibilities for the theme song and music ministry. The council also reviewed the recommendations of the Cell Meeting and discussed other important regional initiatives.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the official release of the Karnataka Regional YCS/YSM E-Magazine, marking another milestone in strengthening communication, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices among student movements across the region.

The meeting concluded with the final blessing imparted by Most Rev. Dr. Henry D'Souza, followed by lunch. The council reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity among the dioceses and empowering young student leaders to serve the Church with renewed zeal and commitment.

Earlier, Mr. Alister Clinton Fernandes welcomed the gathering, Miss Benita D'Souza compered the programme, and Mr. Christopher, Regional General Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
